Prof. Brig. (R) Dr. M. Waseem Khan is a highly respected ophthalmologist with over 40 years of experience in clinical practice, ophthalmic surgery, teaching, and medical education. He graduated from Army Medical College, Rawalpindi, in 1981 and completed his FCPS in Ophthalmology in 1987, passing both parts on his first attempt.
He received advanced training in Oculoplastic Surgery at Moorfields Eye Hospital, London, in 1988 and subsequently served as Head of Eye Departments at major Combined Military Hospitals across Pakistan. He retired from PNS Shifa, Karachi, in 2012.
Throughout his career, Dr. Waseem has made significant contributions to ophthalmic surgery, including pioneering sutureless Phaco surgery with foldable IOLs at CMH Peshawar and performing Pakistan’s first endoscopic DCR surgery at PNS Shifa. He has also performed 28 corneal transplants and contributed extensively to postgraduate ophthalmic training.
