Prof. Dr. Munira Shakir is a highly distinguished Professor of Ophthalmology with over 20 years of experience spanning clinical practice, surgical care, teaching, research, and postgraduate medical education. She currently serves as a Consultant Pediatric and Laser Refractive Surgeon at Al-Ain Eye Hospital, with clinical expertise in Pediatric Ophthalmology, Cataract, and Laser Refractive Surgery.
Known for her strong surgical expertise and patient-focused approach, Dr. Munira combines extensive clinical experience with a deep commitment to academic excellence. Her work encompasses both complex patient care and the education of future ophthalmologists, contributing to high standards of ophthalmic practice.
In addition to her clinical responsibilities, Dr. Munira serves as the Program Director for the Residency Program at Liaquat National Hospital & Medical College, Karachi, and co-chairs the Mentorship Committee, where she supports and guides ophthalmology residents and postgraduate trainees.
Her academic contributions include 33 indexed ophthalmic research publications, numerous national and international presentations, and peer-review contributions for respected medical journals including the British Medical Journal (BMJ) and the Pakistan Journal of Ophthalmology (PJO).
